Things you should know about your application
- Make sure you have all the required documents
– Your passport with at least six months validity remaining
– A visa application form DS-160 (available online or at any US embassy or consulate)
– Two recent passport-style photographs, taken within the last six months (photo size: 3 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches)
– Proof of travel arrangements (e.g. ticket, confirmation email, etc.) if you are traveling to the US for your visa application interview
- Arrive early for your visa appointment
US visa appointments are allotted on a first come, first served basis and are generally scheduled for two weeks in advance. If you cannot arrive early for your appointment, do not worry – you can still apply for a US visa through our consular section but it will take longer to process the application. You may also be able to get help from a friend or family member who is visiting the US – ask if they would be willing to act as a “letter of introduction” for you when you apply.
